About Crusader Hose

Crusader Hose is a family-owned and operated company that for 28 years has been providing Australian Industry and fire safety services with quality lay flat hoses.

The company has a long and proud history of being a major provider of lay flat hose and reel systems to prominent Australian industry and government organisations. These include:

  • Australian Army
  • Rio Tinto
  • Country Fire Authority (CFA)
  • New South Wales Fire Brigade (NSWFB)
  • Yarra Valley Water
  • BHP Billiton

Crusader Hose is always seeking to establish new partnerships and strengthen existing ones with great customer service and innovative solutions. Crusader Hose is proud of its 35-year history and aims to remain respected as Australia’s leading flexible hose manufacturer for many years to come.

A real time & cost saver

In many fluid transfer applications involving high volume, the use of lay flat hose is able to overcome limitations inherent to rigid pipes.

Rigid pipes made from steel, poly or rubber suction are cumbersome and costly, requiring more joins, welding, machinery and manpower to install. Layflat hose can be deployed and retrieved quickly plus adapts to varying terrain.

Layflat hose also has a small storage and transportation footprint plus low friction loss.

Lay Flat Hose
Advantages of Layflat Hose
  • Quick deployment & retrieval
  • Ease of handing & storage
  • Low volume & reduced transportation
  • High pressure pumping

Once you convert from rigid pipes to flexible hose, you’ll never look back.

Flexibore

Bore water retrieval can be a difficult task and only recently, it has been simplified with modern flexible hose technology. Our revolutionary Flexibore® flexible rising main ensures simple and effective bore water retrieval. This layflat bore hose can be installed and retrieved with great ease compared to rigid pipes.

Flexibore® is constructed by integrating thermoplastic polyurethane into a woven textile fabric of high tenacity polyester. The heavy-duty internal fabric gives the hose flexibility and great tensile strength in one continuous length. Since Flexibore® hose can sustain both the submersible pump and water weight, no safety cable is required. Flexibore® is a flexible riser that will suit many borehole applications and is compatible with most submersible pumps.

Flexidrag

Travelling irrigation hose

Flexidrag® irrigation hose is Australia’s leading drag hose for travelling irrigators. It’s a smooth, flexible layflat hose that can be easily stored when not in use – either on an irrigator or in a shed. It comes in a large range of sizes and lengths. The Flexidrag® travelling irrigator drag hose is a perfect blend of superior materials with high-quality construction techniques.

The use of high-quality thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) ensures maximum abrasion and UV resistance, while the warp and weft of high-tenacity filament yarns give maximum strength. This strong internal fabric can withstand the high tensile load applied to the hose when it is dragged behind an irrigator.

When you need irrigation hose solutions that is tough, robust, cost-effective and efficient, choose Flexidrag®.

Rapier

Heavy-duty with added protection

Rapier® is an extruded fire hose which means that it has a PVC/nitrile outer cover. It is classified as a Type 3 fire hose and is a popular choice for both fire brigades and for industrial plant protection. The extruded cover gives it protection against abrasion damage plus making it easy to wipe free of oils stains and dirt.

The extruded cover comes in a standard red colour but other colours such as yellow or blue can also be supplied. This can help differentiate between fire hose (red) and wash-down hose (blue) on the same industrial site.

Rapier® requires no drying and is easy to store. It has Australian Standard AS 2792 and Australian Defence Force DEF 5195A approval. We offer a wide range of couplings, which we securely fit to the hose and provide a test certificate if required. This means that you can confidently protect your life and property with a fully approved and tested fire hose.

Large choice of diameters & lengths

Rapier® is available in diameters of 25mm to 102mm. Usually this hose is supplied in 30m lengths but longer lengths can be made up to 200m.

Long-lasting & high-quality product

Like all our fire hose, Rapier® comes with a 12-month warranty against manufacturing faults. The Rapier® is easy to store and does not require drying. Australian Standard AS 2792-1992 and Australian Defence Force DEF 5195A approval.

Sabre

Fire hose for extreme fires

Sabre is a percolating hose which means that water seeps through the fabric jacket. This is achieved by pin pricking the hose so that water can flow through the fabric jacket and offer protection against burning coals. A thin water barrier thus prevents the hose from getting burnt.

Sabre is a Class H fire hose with a high working pressure of 2100 kPa. This woven fire hose is made from filament polyester with a synthetic polymer lining. It has Australian Standard AS 2792 approval including a low percolation rate. However, it can be made with higher percolation if required.

  • LP – Low Percolation (Standard)
  • MP – Medium Percolation
  • HP – High Percolation

Sabre is fully synthetic and does not perish due to moisture, unlike the original canvas percolating fire hose. It does not require drying after use, although drying does prevent surface mould stains.

Large choice of diameters & lengths

Sabre is available in diameters of 25mm to 65mm. Usually this hose is supplied in 30m lengths but longer lengths can be made up to 200m.

Long-lasting & high-quality product

Like all our fire hose, Sabre comes with a 12-month warranty against manufacturing faults. Fully synthetic so no drying is required after use.

Features
  • Percolating fire hose
  • Working pressure 2100 kPa
  • Easy to handle
  • No drying required after use
  • 12-month warranty
Primary uses
  • Percolating fire hose

Fire Hose Kit

Easy-to-use complete kit

Crusader Hose have used all their years of experience in manufacturing fire hose for the brigades to also come up with fire hose for rural property owners. We understand the risk of not having fire protection in bush fire prone areas and have prepared a Fire Hose Kit for use with fire pumps.

The Excalibur® hose we use in our kit is easy to handle so that many members of a family or group can use this hose to protect their lives and property. It comes with a factory fitted couplings which are securely attached so it can handle the high pressure of your fire pump. There is also a nozzle connected so as soon as you get your pump going, water will be spraying onto the fire.

The Fire Hose Kit comes with options for a non-percolating hose or with percolating hose:

  • Excalibur® – non-percolating
  • Sabre – percolating

All Fire Hose Kits come in standard 20m (or 30m) lengths with crimped BSP fittings plus shut off nozzle. The coupling connects directly to your fire pump and so is ideal for quick deployment in times of an emergency.

Features
  • Easy to handle
  • High pressure
  • Complete with couplings & nozzle
  • Percolating option
  • 12-month warranty
Petrolium & Defence

Pertoline

Fuel transfer safety & efficiency

Petroline® offers the best choice for the transfer of bulk chemicals and fuel. It is our specialised layflat hose suitable for the unloading or loading of petrol from tankers to vehicles and ship-to-shore fuel pumping. Petroline® is an extruded hose using a polyurethane cover and lining encasing a woven polyester fabric jacket. The woven jacket provides the strength, while the polyurethane provides chemical and abrasion resistance. Each hose incorporates an anti-static wire for electrical continuity to reduce the incidence of spontaneous combustion. We offer a wide range of specially designed couplings for most fuel pumping applications.

Petroline® meets the stringent requirements of the Australian Defence Force, who have used it in major deployments across Australia and overseas. Other fuel hose customers include the oil and gas industry, and a variety of logistics and fuel handling companies.

Large choice of diameters & lengths

Diameters of 40mm to 152mm. Combined with purpose-designed hose reel systems Petroline® will streamline your fuel delivery, by taking up minimal space for compact storage plus ease of installation.
