About Us

Fire System Services is a premier provider of specialized services for the Australian aviation charter sector, catering to both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including the offshore helicopter industry.

Our workshop is ideally situated between Adelaide’s three major airports: just 11 km from Adelaide Airport, 7 km from Parafield Airport, and 15 km from RAAF Base Edinburgh.

We focus on the testing and servicing of aviation fire extinguishers and various aviation gas bottles, prioritizing safety, compliance, and excellence in service delivery.

One of our standout features is our rapid turnaround for all servicing tasks. We recognize the critical nature of an “AOG” (Aircraft On Ground) situation, aiming to minimize aircraft downtime by efficiently conducting inspections, testing, and certification processes.

This dedication is essential for ensuring that both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft can quickly resume operations and meet strict schedules.

Additionally, Fire System Services is approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) under CAR-30, reflecting our adherence to rigorous regulatory standards.

This certification ensures that our services meet the highest safety and quality standards, instilling confidence in our clients within the Australian aviation industry.

Hydrostatic Testing

Please Note: when sending in a Bottle for a Hydrostatic Test, we require you to also send the page from the “CMM” Component Maintenance Manual with the Approved Data relating to the bottle service.

The test station can perform DOT Hydrostatic testing of your portable aviation oxygen, Fire, and Inflation cylinders.

We test all brands of portable Aviation Gas Cylinders and offer Hydrostatic testing of onboard aircraft O2 cylinders. Have your mechanic remove and ship us your bottle.

Our hydrostatic test station utilizes precision “Crystal Engineering” Pressure test gauges and can apply pressure over 10,000 psi while recording the test via a Data Log.
This enables us to issue a Data Log Report for Quality Assurance for ISO9001, along with your Hydrostatic Test Certificate alongside the Form 1 Release Certificate.

We know aluminum, steel, and fiber-wound aviation cylinders. We have the proper equipment to test them and the correct low-stress stamps to mark your cylinder.

We can also perform all basic repairs to damage such as dents, scratches, cuts, rust, corrosion, and re-painting when required.

Imported New Aviation Cylinders

Within the Commonwealth of Australia, compliance with the requirements outlined in CASA Advisory Circular AD/GAS/1 is essential. This advisory references AS2030 and AS2337, which form part of the Gas Cylinder Test Scheme.

AS2030.5 specifically applies to dose-exempt cylinders used exclusively in aircraft applications.

New portable gas cylinders, such as carry-on oxygen bottles that are not connected to the aircraft’s fixed systems, must comply with AS2030 and AS2337 under the Gas Cylinder Test Scheme.

Cylinders designed for integration into an aircraft’s fixed system are not subject to AS2030 and AS2337; however, they must still be retested in accordance with their prescribed retest intervals.

Before initial filling, all new carry-on cylinders must be tested and display a valid Australian Gas Cylinder Test Stamp.

Before refilling, older cylinders must be inspected to confirm they are within their approved test period by checking the Gas Cylinder Test Stamp and its associated dates.

For Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) organisations, it is essential to consult the aircraft’s Component Maintenance Manual (CMM) and follow the guidance provided by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

These requirements are centred on risk management and the application of best practices. Ensuring that a cylinder’s test stamp is current before re-gassing is critical.

Failure to comply may result in an Aviation Non-Conformance (NC) against the aircraft and expose the refilling party to potential injury and legal consequences in the event of an incident.
