Compliance Testing Reports

A necessary provision in Australian Standard AS1851 Routine Service of Fire Protection Systems and Equipment is to keep records of the service work carried out as evidence that the systems and equipment fit the intended purpose.

Fire System Services utilises various asset management programmes to assist clients; the company uses Uptick for “ESP” asset management reporting and FireM for live fire alarm monitoring/management.

Both Platforms create real-time reporting, allowing customers to understand their Essential Safety Provisions within the building.

Both asset management software programmes have been designed around all versions of AS1851 and other state-based legislative requirements.

We deliver automatic compliance reporting, complete asset management, and “NCR” Non-Compliance Reporting identifying defects and quoting through the most straightforward workflow possible.

Emergency Showers & Eye Wash Stations

Emergency Eye Wash Shower Testing
Emergency Showers & Eye Wash Stations

Unfortunately, emergency eyewashes and showers often go unused, so it’s critical to test these devices regularly to help ensure they will function appropriately in an emergency.

Studies show that the seconds immediately following an eye injury or chemical splash are often critical to minimising damage.

Annual Inspections are Necessary

The Australian Standard governing Emergency Showers and Eye Wash Units mandates that all emergency units should be deployed weekly and, most importantly, tested annually as per AS 4775.

This is the only way to ensure emergency units remain compliant and operational as front-line emergency life-saving equipment.

Fire System Services can add all your emergency showers and eyewash stations into a service run with your existing Essential Safety Provisions and fire and safety equipment maintenance.

This will ensure that your equipment will be serviced.

Evacuation Plans & Egress

Evacuation Plans for building

Evacuation Plans & Egress

Compliance with Australian Standard AS 3745 Emergency Control Organisation and Procedures for Buildings, Structures and Workplaces guarantees compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations. This Standard requires the development of two primary documents:

Emergency Plan – a set of procedures that document the response to be taken to a range of foreseeable emergencies such as fire, bomb threat, personal injury, personal threat etc.

Evacuation Diagrams – diagrams displayed at prominent locations that outline the evacuation paths and summarise the response by staff and visitors when evacuating the workplace.

Fire System Services can develop emergency plans specific to your site.

A3 Signs show Floor Plans and assembly area, including locations of exits, fire equipment, and orientation ‘YOU ARE HERE” can be prepared.

Fire Blankets

Fire Blanket for use in a kitchen fire
Fire Blankets

Fire System Services offer fire blanket testing services, as well as advice on how to optimise the safety and accessibility of your blanket.

Fire blankets are perfect for use on class F fires (involving cooking fats and oils) and clothing fires – where a person can be wrapped in the blanket, suffocating the flame.

The blanket works by cutting off the oxygen supply and smothering the fire. A faulty blanket could be challenging to remove from its casing or have a tear that would allow the flow of oxygen through and fuel a flame.

Upon use on a fire, Fire Blankets must be disposed of immediately, and a new one must be obtained.

Once installed, fire blankets should be regularly maintained. The minimum maintenance requirements, as documented in South Australian legislation and regulations, are:

  • six monthly inspection

Fire Extinguishers

Fire hose reels should be located within 4 metres of an exit from the building and 40 metres from any part of the building.

Once installed, fire hose reels should be regularly maintained. The minimum maintenance requirements, as documented in South Australian legislation and regulations, are:

Once installed, fire hydrants should be regularly maintained. The minimum maintenance requirements, as documented in South Australian legislation and regulations, are:

  • monthly inspection for damage and ensure that the hydrant is clear of obstructions

Fire Sprinkler Systems

Man Testing Fire Sprinkler System
Wet Systems – Fire Sprinklers & Wall Wetting Systems

Fire Sprinkler Systems are designed to contain and extinguish fire automatically. When the heat from the fire gets to a specific temperature, the fire sprinkler heads operate, spraying water over the fire.

South Australian regulations may require a Fire Sprinkler System installed in buildings more significant than 2,000 square metres.

Once installed, a Fire Sprinkler System should be regularly maintained. The minimum maintenance requirements, as documented in South Australian legislation and regulations, are:

  • Weekly test to ensure that each sprinkler system will go into alarm
  • Annual test to ensure adequate water supply for the sprinkler system.

Fire System Services offers services for all wet fire sprinkler systems, including wall-wetting systems.

In addition, we can perform other wet system maintenance such as annubar flow tests, pump systems maintenance and overhauls.
